A Women’s & Girls’ Empowerment Festival
[NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA, March 2024] – Rock & Rouge Women’s Music & Food Festival & Beyond returns for our annual women-centric and free outdoor festival at Lafayette Square on Saturday & Sunday, October 26th & 27th, 11:00AM-7PM.
Spotlighting our womxn of New Orleans & beyond, this all-inclusive festival at Lafayette Square becomes the epicenter for an all-out-force of women and girls showcasing their talents. Female fronted rock bands, culinary chefs vending succulent dishes, tabling-organizations, plus, a S.T.E.A.M. Tent for girls, ages 8-13, bring to the forefront women of our community. And what about the men? Well, we have a men’s experience called the “End Zone” because we love men too.
A Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics (S.T.E.A.M) tent for girls provides activities through the Rock & Rouge Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3). As mentioned, the “End Zone” experience features a Sazerac whiskey bar, televised football games, and with a new addition of young men from LSU fraternities DJing some rock’in tunes. The festival advocates, supports and hires Union bands and works directly with New Orleans’ Musicians Local Union 174-496 and its Music Performance Trust Fund as proud sponsors of musical talent.
Rock & Rouge expands its 4-cornerstones of music, food, speakers and education with beauty, sports, artisans, and fashion designers. This is an exciting weekend for women in Louisiana. With the Taylor Swift Eras tour descending upon the city, Rock & Rouge is poised and ready for Swifty mania cementing our women’s empowerment movement in Louisiana & beyond!

Yeah that’s right! You heard it here first. Rock & Rouge Women’s Fess is back. We are expanding from 1-day to 2-days Saturday & Sunday. Our focus is given to womxn and girls mainly, with a nod to the men and boys who support womxn. Stay tuned for more details. But for now, help spread the word to the womxn of our New Orleans community.

About this event
Introducing the Rock & Rouge Women’s Music Festival & beyond Los Angeles. This is the first L.A. Rock & Rouge special event showcasing women’s empowerment thru activism in music, food, speaking and organizing. The Rock & Rouge Music Festival will be Sunday August 28th, 2022, at Club Bahia 1130 Sunset Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90012. Women’s rights are at stake again with the overturning of Roe vs, Wade by the U.S. Supreme Court. So, we must support and empower women organizations fighting for women’s rights and the inclusivity of all others oppressed by the judgements of race, creed, color, socioeconomic status, and now, gender. We empower through supporting marches, organizations, music, spoken word, speakers and most of all education.
The Rock & Rouge Women’s Music Festival Los Angeles is a one-day event at Club Bahia that features a line-up of empowering women segments throughout the afternoon and into the evening. The program includes an indoor nightclub stage with live music, speakers, cash bar and food service. Outside, 2-outdoor parking lots with staging areas for women DJs, women business vendors in beauty, fashion, and lite bites surrounded by women organizations, speakers, and featuring emcee, JUAY:

New Orleans, Louisiana, May 13, 2020 – Unfortunately, we must announce that The Rock & Rouge Women’s Music & Food Festival & beyond 2020 has been cancelled. At first, we had hoped to postpone the festival to September 2020 in response to the outbreak of COVID-19 and Governor John Bel Edwards’ ban on public events. However, New Orleans Mayor Latoya Cantrell has since strongly advised against holding festivals for the remainder of 2020.
As we have previously stated, public safety and health is our top priority. In order to protect our community and comply with our government and health officials, we see no other option than to cancel The Rock & Rouge Women’s Music & Food Festival & beyond for 2020. The Rock & Rouge Foundation remains driven to celebrate and empower women in our community. We anticipate the return of live music, food, and celebration of our culture in 2021, and we hope to see you there. Our sincerest gratitude extends to our community, partners, sponsors, donors, volunteers, and everyone in this difficult time!

Monday, March 16, 2020 11:40 AM – Following the announcement of Governor John Bel Edwards last Friday afternoon banning all public events over 250 people, The Rock & Rouge Women’s Music & Food Festival & beyond will not be held this upcoming Saturday, March 21st in Lafayette Square. While we are saddened and disappointed, we understand that public safety is the top priority and will continue to listen to and support state and local officials.
We will instead move forward with hosting this event in September 2020 in Lafayette Square. We hope to see everyone there in the fall to celebrate and empower all women in our community. Please stay tuned over the coming months as we will announce any updates and changes. Thank you to our community, partners, sponsors, donors, and everyone in this difficult time!

The Rock & Rouge Women’s Music & Food Festival & Beyond has pushed its date from June, 16th to Saturday, June, 30th 2018 due to weather conditions and safety concerns. We are still accepting volunteers and please email us if you’d like to participate to volunteers@therockandrouge.com. There will be a change in our lineup, but Irma Thomas is still our headliner! We apologize that we have lost Lynn Dury and Shawn WIlliams due to their tour schedule. Please look on their websites for their tour dates.
