The New Orleans Hispanic Heritage Foundation is pleased to present the 2026 Chalk
Painting Our Hispanic Heritage event as part of the annual Hispanic Heritage Month celebration.
The event will take place Saturday, September 26, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Peristyle at City Park,
located next to Café Du Monde (42 Dreyfous Drive, New Orleans, LA 70124).
The Foundation has invited private, parochial, and public high schools across the Greater New Orleans area to
participate in this vibrant cultural event, with a maximum capacity of 12 school teams. Each team will select a
design theme inspired by a Hispanic country of their choice and will be assigned a 10 ft x 10 ft space to execute
their artwork.
Artwork creation will begin at 9:00 a.m., with each school represented by three student artists and one
supervising adult. A panel of three local art professionals, led by an education staff member from the New
Orleans Museum of Art, will judge each team's work at 12:30 p.m. Following the judging, award certificates will
be presented by the President of the New Orleans Hispanic Heritage Foundation to the winning team. Prizes
will include art supplies generously donated by David Art Center.
The closing ceremony will begin at 1:00 p.m.
