Andres Fuentes is one of the new faces on local news. He joined the WVUE Fox 8 team in January as the only bilingual on-camera reporter. A native of Kenner, Fuentes is a Rummel Raider and a Loyola University graduate.

Though Spanish isn’t his primary language, Fuentes grew up speaking Spanish to his grandmother at home. As a third-generation Mexican American, his bi-cultural upbringing will help Fuentes connect with the Latino community in the Greater New Orleans area, just as he did at his previous job in Biloxi.

During his first year as a reporter at WLOX, Fuentes had a year flooded with constant updates during the Covid crisis and a busy hurricane season. Fuentes provided this information also in Spanish, serving the non-English speaking population during a critical time. His goal is also to help the Spanish-speaking community in our area.

Fuentes is very excited to return home and live out his dream of reporting the news in his community.
