Thinking about vacations always brightens our lives. With Thanksgiving and Christmas around the corner, we must start planning to return to our homeland to enjoy Latin American traditions and culture, see family, or simply explore the beautiful places our continent south of the United States offers. New Orleans has always been an essential portal to Latin America, and its airport offers everything you need to start your vacation at home. When making your itinerary, don’t forget that arriving early to the airport has advantages and that Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport offers you all the amenities, from Valet Parking and the VIP Lounge to delicious places where you can eat the last New Orleans dish or enjoy a delicious local coffee. You can even buy the cutest souvenirs from your city to take to Latin America.

Here are some destinations that our readers have recently enjoyed with their itinerary.

MSY - San Pedro Sula. Traveling to Honduras is very easy from New Orleans. Spirit’s direct flight takes you to San Pedro Sula in two and a half hours. From there, it is easy to explore the country and places like Utila and Tela, as the creative Felipe Estrada did a few months ago.

MSY - Guatemala City. Traveling to Guatemala can be pretty economical. Several airlines offer the country of eternal spring as a destination, with a stopover in Texas and Florida, and in 5 and a half hours, you can enjoy the beautiful landscapes and spectacular weather of Guatemala. My family and I visited our relatives and relaxed in Antigua and Panajachel.

MSY - Santiago. This destination may not be the most common flying out of New Orleans, but it’s time for it to be. Escaping the summer heat or the winter cold and enjoying the vineyards and mountains of Chile can be the best vacation of your life. A few months ago, Rey and Amairanny Rivas enjoyed good wine, snow-capped mountains, and the tallest building in South America in Santiago, Chile. Although it is a long trip, you can find reasonable prices. Their connection flight was in Houston.
